2017 CYC Instagram Scavenger Hunt

Details and Rules


The Basics

Game day is Saturday, October 14, 2017

The Scavenger Hunt List will be posted on the Community Youth Courts Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/Community-Youth-Courts-235577599817195/) and on Community Youth Courts Instagram account at 11:00 am on the morning of October 14th

Game play starts at 11:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm

Each team will need at least one smartphone with a data plan so that they can post their team’s photos and videos to Instagram for scoring.  Instagram accounts used for the scavenger hunt need to be public (viewable by everyone)

Team Registration

Teams can register online by clicking the link on the Community Youth Court Instagram Scavenger Hunt page or mail their form to:  CYC, P.O. Box 1135, Livermore, CA 94550

The Team registration and participation fee MUST be received by October 19th in order to be eligible for Scavenger Hunt

A Team must have 2 people, but no more than 4


The scavenger hunt officially starts at 11:00 am, at which point the teams can begin taking photos/videos and posting them – Any pictures received before 11:00 am will not be counted

Teams may tackle as many clues as they like, in any order they wish.  There are a lot of items, so don’t worry about find them all

Be safe and sensible when you are playing the scavenger hunt.  Please don’t endanger yourself and others, trespass on private property, or do anything illegal for the sake of scoring points

The scavenger hunt officially ends at 1:00 pm – photos received after this time will not be counted

Photo Submission

Teams must travel as a group and at least two people from your team must be visible in all photos submitted.  Photos where your team is not visible will be ineligible for points

For each scavenger hunt item, please only post one photo/video per team

The first item received from the Team will be the item judged

Once an item is identified, take a clear photo/video of it and post it to the Community Youth Courts Instagram page with the appropriate hashtags (e.g., #teamname, #CommunityYouthCourts, #itemname


Photos/Videos must be posted by 1:00 pm

Scores will be tallied and winners announced via the Community Youth Courts Facebook and Instagram pages by 5:00 pm


1.Your team must stay together at all times.  You may not split up to “divide” tasks.

2.Have fun and try to win, but don’t let your competitive instincts drive you to ruin other peoples’ chances to win.  If you do, your team will be disqualified.  That means no sabotaging, lying, cheating, stealing, or copying other people’s work.

3.If anyone on your team cheats or breaks the rules, the whole team gets disqualified.

4.You are here to have fun, but do so LEGALLY.  If you break any laws at any time during any portion of the scavenger hunt, your team will be disqualified.  Community Youth courts does not want to get sued, so if you break any laws your team will be disqualified.  This includes, but is not limited to, moving violations, trespassing, burglary, larceny, embezzlement, grand theft, shoplifting, assault, plagiarism, blackmail, indecent exposure, having a concealed weapon, brandishing a weapon, bribery, forgery, perjury, fraud…. Seriously, if you get so much as a speeding ticket, you lose.

5.There is no appeals process in the scavenger hunt.  There is also no crying.

6.All decisions by the judges are final. No exceptions.

7.All players agree to have their photos used for promotional purposes by Community Youth Courts.

8.Community Youth Courts will not be held responsible or liable for anything that occurs during the 2016 Community Youth Courts Instagram Scavenger Hunt.
