Friends of Dublin Library -- Friends of the Dublin Library conduct sales of gently used books and audio-visual materials at the Dublin Library on a regular basis. Money from the sales goes towards Library programs and materials and is especially welcome in this economic climate of budget cut-backs. We host 2 semi-annual sales, in March and September, and a Holiday Book Sale in December. Volunteers would be welcome year-round to sort books. Help is also welcome just before, during, and just after sales. We are a friendly, engaged and energetic group of people and invite other such citizens to join us!

Start With a Story -- Volunteers read stories to children, ages 0-8 years, who visit the Santa Rita Jail on Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Volunteers also supervise distribution of books to children who visit the jail. We are asking a minimum time commitment of 2 hours/week (but are, of course, grateful for any time you can offer.) For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Start With a Story through their website.

East Bay SPCA -- This is a long-term commitment. Training can take up to 2 months and there is no community service credit for training. A parent or guardian must also attend training as a volunteer and supervise their children between the ages of 10 and 15 at all times. This includes volunteer sessions, orientations and trainings. Positions available: Feline Socializer, Puppy Socializer, Dog Manners Coach, Special Events. For more information please visit their website, http://www.eastbayspca.org/Page.aspx?pid=391.

One short-term commitment is to organize a donation drive to collect supplies or funds for the shelter animals. Visit http://www.eastbayspca.org/Page.aspx?pid=479 for a donation wish list.
